Aim:

A one day training programme that enables attendees to manage their stress levels more effectively, by addressing the two major causes of pressure at work – insufficient time and dealing with difficult people.

Course Objectives:

To understand that stress is a stimulus and pressure can fuel outstanding performance, but the levels of both of these need to be managed

Recognise and address those factors that could be generating excessive stress and pressure

Develop personal resilience and techniques for feeling in control

Time robbers – what consumes your time and how to manage them

Managing interruptions assertively and effectively

Prioritising – overcoming overwhelm and preventing future crises by understanding the difference between ‘urgent’ and ‘important’

Working styles – types A and B – the problems, the stressors and the remedies for both

Moving from working hard to working smart and feeling in control

Procrastination, indecisiveness and other bad habits

Identifying time and situational stressors and how they can be defused

Turning dis-stress into eu-stress – a positive, energising force

Balance – ensuring that no one area of life/work dominates the others, and putting in place purpose and clear goals

Dealing with difficult people positively and assertively

Maintaining morale and motivation in the face of challenging situations

Building emotional resilience to stress

Anchors – how to access a ‘calm and in control’ feeling at any time

Other ‘state control’ techniques – Breathing, Visualising, Music and the ‘right’ kind of inner dialogue

Understanding behaviour – what makes everyone uniquely different and how to get along with someone who is very different to yourself.

Taking a positive lead in a dialogue to resolve conflicts without there being ‘winners and losers’

Using the assertive sentence to achieve mutually beneficial outcomes

Action plan – pulling it all together for a low-stress future
